- Given the way Tildie’s power causes the death of her parents, do you think people would be justified in trying to find a way to stamp out the mutant gene? Why?
- What do you think of the simulated Sentinel attack as a teaching approach?
- Frost says, “they will always hate us . . . so we must prove ourselves a peaceful people.” Is she right in her view? Would taking a peaceful approach to the mutant/human conflict work? Or would it make more sense for the mutants to fight the humans? Why or why not?
- Scott claims “super heroes wear costumes.” Would the X-Men’s new outfits impact how people think about the mutants? Why?
- Is Emma Frost’s costume completely absurd or realistic for an ex-villainess? Why? Since Whedon and Cassaday gave all the other X-Men new costumes, do you think they should have given Frost a new costume as well, one a tad more conservative? Is this a flaw in the logic of the story? Why or why not?
- Let’s consider another appearance related issue. Would you be willing to let your appearance be mutated, even as drastically as Nightcrawler’s or the Beast’s (though Beast’s appearance is only partly mutation related) in order to gain superpowers? Why or why not?
- Is Dr. Rao right to suggest that mutants are just people and that the mutant gene is a corruption of healthy cellular activity?
