- Elongated Man (Ralph Dibny) says that Dr. Fate once told him, “Life is a mystery.” But Elongated Man says Fate was wrong, everyone knows how their life story will end, with death. Then Elongated Man says that’s the big difference between real life and novels: in real life anyone can get die, but in novels the main characters almost always survive. Minor characters (and red shirted Star Fleet personnel), however, aren’t so lucky. How do you think this internal monologue of Elongated Man’s impacts the story?
- How does the use of the “thirty minutes till now” technique impact the story?
- After Dr. Light rapes Sue Dibny, the heroes split over what to do with him. Three want to “clean him up,” three are against it. How would you have voted if you were a member of the Justice League of America (JLA)? Why?
- Zatanna’s attempt to change Dr. Light’s mind turns him into “a moron” (according to Green Arrow). Does this mean that what the JLA did was wrong or was it still the best thing to do? Why?
