Creating and posting a web page is only part of the process. You still have to help people find your page.
The IUP People Directory
To start with, your page will be visible whenever someone searches for you on IUP’s People Directory. Try looking yourself up right now:
The Open Directory
Once you’ve taken care of IUP, you probably also want to have your web page appear on search engines like Yahoo and Google. This can be a bit of a slow process. You will need to use the Open Directory Project to get your web site listed.
The Open Directory Project is a web directory of Internet resources. A web directory is something akin to a huge reference library. The directory is hierarchically arranged by subject – from broad to specific. The ODP is maintained by community editors who evaluate sites for inclusion in the directory. Getting Your Web Page Listed
Once you are ready, click the link below and follow the steps listed to add your web page to the education category for IUP. This is probably the most logical category in which to list yourself, though you can use one of the other ODP categories if you like:
