eJournal Questions
You may write the eJournal below for either the novel you selected to read individual OR your book club book. If you work on your book club book, it would be best to have everyone in the book club write one email together. If you are writing as a group and a question requires multiple answers, then just say, “Joe thought … Maria, however, disagreed; she thought…”
Send one copy of the eJournal Dr. Pagnucci with the information below. If you are writing this message as a book club, then send also send the message to all the book club members

(Copy the questions below into your email message. Type your answers after each question. Then send your completed eJournal to Dr. Pagnucci. Write answers that are as complete as possible. Note also that grammar and spelling will not be counted for eJournals, so just do your best.)

- What did you think this novel would be about?
- What has it actually been about and how well did it match your expectations?
- What has surprised (even if it’s only mild surprise) you about how the novel’s story is progressing?
- What do you or your book club think of the novel choice so far? Does everyone have the same opinion of the book? If not, explain why people are reacting to the book differently.
- Find a passage/sentence/phrase that your (or all the book club members) liked from the first 50 pages of the novel. Copy down this material and then give the page number for the quotation. Then explain why you/your group finds this quote interesting.
- Which character(s) in the book is/are the most intriguing to you/your club so far? Why?
- Would you/your club members want to read another book by this author? Why or why not?
- Would you like to personally meet the author? Why or why not?
- If you met the author, what would you say/ask about the book? Why?
- What do you imagine the author of this book is like as a person? Why?
- Describe the writing style the author has used for the novel. Find one passage (but not the one you used for question 5) that is a good example of this style (copy down the quote and the page number). What do you/your club members think of this writing style? Do you think you could write similarly to this author? Why or why not?
- What do you expect to happen next in the book? How do you/your club members think this book will end? If someone in your club has already finished the book, tell them to keep quiet! If everyone in your club has finished the book, then say what you thought about the ending.
