Project Overview
For many years now I have been studying how to teach English using technology. This work has evolved into the Teaching Digital English Project. The goal of this project is to explore how teachers can best use technology for teaching English. This research project seeks to gather information from technology-focused English teachers throughout the United States. The goal of the project is to identify current best practices for teaching Engilsh using technology.
The Teaching Digital English Project has led to two related projects that are helping to develop scholars’ understanding of the best practices for teaching English using technology:
- Project IUP Cast (with Dr. Kenneth Sherwood)
- The goal of Project IUP Cast is to encourage students and teachers to take part in the world of podcasting by writing and distributing their own podcasts. The hope of the project is to give students a voice to express their ideas on the web and to open a dialogue with other members of the IUP community. An additional specific goal of Project IUP Cast is to help students learn about writing and publishing with new digital media to enhance their communication skills.
- The WikiBib Project
- The WikiBib Project is an online bibliography project. The project is designed to provide online readers with detailed annotated bibliography materials. Current annotations deal with technology and literacy scholarship in the fields of composition and applied linguistics. The WikiBib Project is a collaborative enterprise compiling bibliographic entries written by doctoral students in composition and TESOL. The authors of individual bibliographic entries are noted, and readers may feel free to cite these entries as well as to read the original materials.
