A Guide to Composition Pedagogies (2000; 2014)

In 2000, Gary Tate, Amy Rupiper Taggar, and Kurt Schick, published a fabulous edited collection called A Guide to Composition Pedagogies. This volume offers an excellent exploration of many of the composition pedagogical approaches I have outlined in the above list. Each chapter discusses the main tennants of the given pedagogy and also provides extensive references for further reading.

A Guide to Composition Pedagogies

In 2014, H. Brooke Hessler joined the original editors to published a Second Edition of the book. I found the second edition interesting but less reference-oriented than the First Edition, so I tend to prefer the First Edition for providing basic pedagogical information. I own both books, though, so I encourage you to get at least one of the two editions for your own composition library.
