Task Overview
Study your object (or picture of your object) for a few minutes. Hold the object, turn it over in your hands, look at it. Consider its weight, shape, size, texture, etc.
Then start writing a story that comes from the object. A simple way to start your story is to describe the object. You can work to capture its details. You don’t have to do this, but it can be a good beginning. As you write, the object may feature prominently in your story, but it doesn’t have to. Perhaps the object was just an item in a room where the story took place. If the object needs to be highlighted for your story, that’s fine. If the object is of only minor importance, then focus on the other aspects of the story. It’s the story that is important here. The object is meant to serve as a doorway/entry point into telling your story. The object can help take you back to the time, place, and context of your story.

Your story should be around 3-5 pages long depending on the kind of story you are trying to tell.
Make enough copies of your story to share with the class.
