1. What is the best way to win an argument?

2. In an argument, which is more important to accomplish, proving your side of the issue is correct or discrediting the other side’s position? Why?

3. What is the best way to persuade someone to do something?

4. Is winning an argument the same as persuading someone? Why or why not?

5. Assume you are an employee at a large company and have been asked to write a proposal. The proposal will be worth thousands of dollars in sales for the company. While doing research for the project, you come across evidence that your proposal will cause substantial environmental damage to the local environment. What should you do?

6. What sort of evidence do you feel is the most persuasive: statistical information, expert testimony, an anecdote, or an outright lie? Why?

7. Would you rather lose an argument and maintain your dignity or win an argument but risk compromising your ethics in the process? Why?
