The Power of Freewriting

  • Task: Write a Poem
    • Your poem doesn’t have to rhyme, but it can if you want
    • Poetry lets you play with words, with language and languages, with form
    • Poetry reminds us that writing can be artistic
    • Poetry lets us think about image, detail, and memory
    • For this task, you may write a poem about anything you like, but if you can’t decide what to write, then pick one image of the current season and describe it; make that description your first stanza, and then go from there
