“Hey, kid. Come on, kid. Wake up.”
You open your eyes to find a small raccoon holding a large blaster standing over you.
“What happened?” you ask.
“You did it. You saved the city. You saved the whole world!” All the Avengers and Guardians are smiling at you.
You sit up groggily. You are slowly beginning to remember. “My medallion.” You reach to your neck, but the medallion is gone.
“I’m sorry,” says Agent Pagnucci. “Your medallion was blown up when it destroyed Ronan’s ship. I’m afraid you’ve lost your superpowers.”
“Oh,” you say. “I think I need a minute.”
You get up and walk away, trying to take in everything that has happened. Suddenly a small skrull girl runs up and wraps her arms around your legs. “You saved us,” she says, smiling up at you. “You’re our hero.”
“Thanks,” you say. “I’m glad you’re safe.”
You keep walking until you are alone. Then, suddenly, a man in a red cape appears before you. He smiles at you.
“Dr. Strange?” you ask. “You’re here, too, on this alien world?”
Dr. Strange nods.
“I’m sorry,” you say. “I lost the medallion. My powers are gone.”
Dr. Strange shakes his head. Then he reaches out a hand and touches one finger to your chest. As he touches you, he smiles again.
