English 222: Technical Writing — Assignment: Definitions of Terms

1. Pick 3 complicated terms related to your major.
2. Write an elaborated definition for each of these terms. Use the most basic characteristics and categories to define these terms.
3. Use the basic definition pattern of:
   • A term is a category B with characteristics C, D, and E.
   • IUP is a university which is state funded.
4. Include illustrations if needed to help define your terms.
5. Each of your definitions should be about 1 full paragraph in length for a total of 3 paragraphs for the 3 definitions.
