- Can we call Harrigan a hero? Why or why not?
- Is Marv a superhero? Why or why not?
- Both Marv and Harrigan have their flaws. Do these faults overshadow their redeeming virtues? Why or why not?
- Why introduce Nancy as an innocent kid who gets saved, then turn her into a stripper?
- Are the women in the film just on display for male fantasies or are any of these women empowered? Does forcing the women to be nude or dress in almost no clothing automatically disempower them?
- Is the violence in the film real violence or comic book violence? Explain your thinking.
- Can we consider Sin Citya work of literature? How about a work of art? Why?
- Why make the villains in the story so brutal and sadistic? Is the cannibal a supervillain like Slade/Deathstroke the Terminator from Identity Crisis? Explain.
- Almost everyone in the film seems corrupt and dark. Is this true to life or too unrealistic? Why do you think Frank Miller tells the story with these types of characters? Why not have some more “good” characters to provide contrast?
