Your Cool Course Assignment
This task gives you a chance to share a cool class assignment with your peers. You are welcome to write up a brand new assignment that you have wanted to try. Make it something fun and creative. I want you to try to come up with something students might think is cool! Those are the best kinds of assignments for students.
Alternatively, you can use an assignment that has worked for you in the past. If you have an old assignment, read through it an update it so that it is polished for the next time you use it. This is your chance to improve that assignment and make sure it is just the way you want it.
If in the past a teacher used a cool assignment that you would like to borrow for your own teaching, feel free to contact them for the assignment. Then edit that assignment so it fits with your course. Be sure to add a note thanking the original designer. If you can’t reach that teacher in time, rewrite the assignment from memory. Be sure to still give them credit. And I encourage you to write them later to tell them what a great assignment they came up with.
If none of these approaches works for you, then I encourage you to spend some time looking for a cool assignment that you think your students would like. Again, modify it so it is consistent with your course materials. And, of course, include a thank you to the original creator.
There is no right or wrong assignment here. The goal is for everyone to come up with one assignment to share with the group so that everyone leaves English 830 with a ton of great potential assignments.
Cool Course Assignment Guidelines
- Your course assignment should be in the 1-2 page range
- It should be long enough to be clear but not overwhelming for students
