Time for a Little Magic
I am going to teach you how to make a magical tome. You will need this magical tome for the journey you must undertake. To successfully cast a spell on parchment and imbue it with magic you must have heart and intellect and wisdom and courage and hope. And, of course, you will need a little luck.
But you have the power to cast this spell. You have been chosen.
- Begin by closing your eyes.
- Take a deep breath. Hold it for a moment. Now gently let it out.
- Feel your heart slow.
- Take another deep breath. Hold it for a moment. Now gently let it out.
- Feel your worries fade. Feel a sense of calm slowly settle over your body.
- Take one more deep breath. Hold it again. Now gently let out this last deep breath.
- Feel that quiet and peace. You are ready.
It is time to wield the magical power of writing.
I. The Object
We will start by having you think of an important object. This can be any object that is special to you. Spend a few moments choosing the object. A small object is best. While something big, like a house or a mountain could work, there is an advantage to picking an object that you can set on a shelf or desk where you can see it.
Also, avoid picking an object that has automatic significance, like a wedding ring. Such an object already is loaded with meaning for you. We will be using this writing to draw out the meaning of this object to you and to imbue it with new magic. So you don’t need an object with is already powerful for you. Think of this as crafting a new talisman for yourself.
If you have the object available, get it out and look at it. If you don’t have the object with you, close your eyes and call the object into your mind.
- Describe the object in as much detail as you can.
- What are the colors of the object?
- What are it’s textures?
- How does it feel to touch the object?
Write a few lines, about a paragraph, describing your special object.
