Origin Story
- The Guardians of the Galaxy
- The team is fighting against the Badoon, a reptilian race who have conquered earth and enslaved humanity in the 31st Century
- Original Team Members:
- Major Vance Astro
- Martinex T’Naga from Pluto
- Captain Charlie-27 from Jupitor
- Yondu Udonta from Centauri-IV, the fourth planet orbiting the star Alpah Cenauri B
- Each is the last of their kind
- The Guardians free earth with the help of the Avengers who have traveled through time
- The Guardians then travel through the Earth’s solar system fighting the Badoon
- They eventually defeat the Badoon
Long Lost Hero
- Major Vance Astro
- Born Vance Astrovik in Saugerties, NY
- He changed his name to Vance Astro when he joined the U.S. Air Force
- In 1988 he volunteered for the first crewed interstellar mission, Project: Starjump
- Traveled in the ship Odysseus I
- Had to wear a special blue and white suit to keep from aging
- Taking off the suit would cause him to die
- Spent 1000 years in suspended animation traveling to Alpha Centuari
- His ship awakened him periodically during the voyage to do routine course corrections, but he would slowly go insane from the loneliness and only return to normal by going back into suspended animation
- Gained psionic powers from being in a dream-state so long
- Meanwhile other humans beat him to Alpha Centauri once faster-than-light drives were developed
- Later he went on a quest to find the lost shield of Captain America
- He also was magically healed by Krugarr, a former apprentice of Doctor Strange, and was freed of his containment suit
- He then adopted a costume modeled on Captain America’s and became Major Victory
