Think about this. Having super powers seems like it would be cool. Who wouldn’t want to be able to fly or run super fast or bench press a building? But, as Stan Lee once wrote in Amazing Fantasy #15, the first Spider-Man story, “With great power there must also come great responsibility.”
There is a cost to being a superhero. More significantly, there is often a cost to doing good. It’s not always easy to do the right thing.
Agent Pagnucci of S.H.I.E.L.D. has summoned you on a dangerous intergalactic mission as part of the Avengers. You are excited, but worried at the same time. Before you can leave on your mission, you need to write a letter to your closest friend because, well, who knows when, or if, you’ll be coming back. (But don’t get too worried because Agent Pagnucci did tell you that Captain Marvel is coming with you.) Still, traveling to another planet, called Tarnax if you heard Agent Pagnucci correctly, means leaving everyone you love on planet earth behind. You have to say goodbye.
Write a one-page Mission-Goodbye Letter to a close friend explaining that you have to leave on an important mission and may not be coming back. Tell your friend what they mean to you. Tell them why you feel you need to go on this mission. Tell them why you think it’s important for you to try to help others. Tell them any worries you have about going on this mission.
